Meet The Team

Hi, I’m Joey, founder of Joey’s Happy Paws.

Almost ten years ago, while on maternity leave with my son Charlie, I made the decision not to return to my sales career and instead follow my passion for animals. What started as a few dog walks with Charlie in his buggy soon grew into something much bigger.

My love of dogs actually started long before Joey’s Happy Paws. Over the years, I have fostered a number of rescue dogs, helping them settle into home life and prepare for their forever families. This experience taught me so much about canine behaviour, patience, and the importance of understanding that every dog is an individual with their own personality and needs.

Over the years, Joey’s Happy Paws has expanded from dog walking to include pet visits, cat sitting, house sitting, doggy daycare and now licensed home boarding. It’s been an incredible journey, and one of the most rewarding parts of the job has been watching many of the dogs I’ve cared for grow from puppies into beloved family companions.

Today, Joey’s Happy Paws is a family-run business built around providing loving, reliable and professional care for your pets. Whether your dog is joining us for a walk, daycare, or an overnight stay, they are treated as part of the family and cared for as if they were our own.

One of the things I love most about offering home boarding is that it allows my family to be involved too. The dogs become part of our daily life, joining us for walks, playtime, cuddles, and plenty of attention. We genuinely enjoy having them as part of the family while they’re with us, and I think that home-from-home environment is what makes Joey’s Happy Paws so special.

When I’m not spending time with the dogs, I love:

  • Being outdoors

  • Spending time with family and friends

  • Going to the gym

  • Practising yoga

  • Paddle boarding

  • Enjoying a few too many sweets!

I feel incredibly lucky to have turned my love of animals into a career. From fostering rescue dogs to building Joey’s Happy Paws, caring for animals has always been a huge part of my life, and I’m grateful to all the wonderful owners and pets who have been part of the journey.

Thank you for trusting Joey’s Happy Paws with your pets. I look forward to welcoming you and your furry family members soon.

Andrew

With over 25 years of dog handling experience. My journey began training gundogs, which gave me a strong understanding of

canine behaviour, communication, and the importance of building trust and confidence in every dog. I have a

particular soft spot for Labradors and larger breeds, but if I'm honest, I’m a sucker for any dog that wants a cuddle,

a fuss, or a game of fetch. Whether it’s a giant Labrador, a tiny fluffball, or anything in between, I’m happiest when

I’m surrounded by dogs. You’ll usually find me outdoors throwing a ball, exploring the countryside, or, regardless

of the season, wearing a pair of shorts that seem completely immune to the British weather.

At Joey's Happy Paws, while Jo gets all the glory spending her days out with the doggos, I somehow ended up as

the official Chief Admin Officer. My duties include managing bookings, organising paperwork, chasing invoices,

answering messages, and generally keeping the wheels turning . Think less dog whisperer and

more Joey's Happy Paws version of Dobby—working away in the background so Jo can get all the cuddles and

muddy paws. It's a tough life, but someone has to do it. Although if anyone asks, I'd much rather be out

throwing tennis balls than wrestling with spreadsheets!

Saphi

Hi, I’m Sophia! I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life — from having our own at home, to my mum

fostering, and then starting her business, so being surrounded by muddy paws, dog hair and at least one

dog lying directly in the middle of the kitchen has always been normal for me.

Because of that, I’ve had experience with all sorts of dogs and personalities, including dogs that are nervous,

need a little extra reassurance, or just like doing things on their own terms. I know every dog is different and

I’m happy to take things at their pace to help them feel comfortable and enjoy themselves.

I’m also unofficially the photographer, so expect plenty of photos and video updates while your dog is out

and about.

I have a soft spot for dogs who love water, so if your dog enjoys a paddle there’s a good chance

they’ll get one — and if they’ve been especially good, maybe even a Costa pup cup too.

My mum already

knows I can’t guarantee dogs will come home completely dry… but I can guarantee they’ll have had a great

time.

Charlie

Charlie is 11 years old and has grown up surrounded by dogs. With a mum who works with dogs and has spent years involved in dog rescue, walking, and care, he has been helping out with four-legged friends for as long as he can remember. He has a natural confidence around dogs and loves getting involved in every part of Joey's Happy Paws.

At Joey's Happy Paws, Charlie proudly takes on the role of Chief Swimming Instructor whenever the paddling pools come out, helping the dogs splash, play, and cool off. When he's not poolside, there's a good chance you'll find him throwing a ball, handing out treats, or giving belly rubs to whichever dog has chosen him as their new best friend.

Many of our guests can often be found tucked up beside him like a furry sausage roll under a blanket while he plays on his PlayStation. Somehow, the dogs always seem to gravitate towards Charlie, and he's more than happy to soak up the cuddles. His favourite part of home boarding is seeing the dogs relax, settle in, and become part of the family during their stay.

Charlie absolutely loves having dogs stay with us, and judging by the amount of tail wagging he receives, the feeling is definitely mutual. 🐶❤️🎮🏊‍♂️🐾
